MūL Technologies, a Mequon, Wisconsin-based manufacturer of autonomous mobile robots, has launched a modular pricing structure for its MARC material-handling carts, starting at $9,999 for a base model. The new pricing, effective immediately across the United States and Canada, is intended to let manufacturers and warehouse operators pay only for the automation features they actually need.
How the tiered pricing works
The entry-level Base MARC unit costs $9,999 and includes one-button destination programming, support for up to 10 programmable locations, and operation that does not require a facility Wi-Fi network. Customers who want additional capabilities can select a Custom MARC configuration, with price scaling according to the features added. At the top of the range, the All-In MARC package costs $19,999 and bundles every available feature - a configuration the company says represents an $8,000 savings compared with purchasing each capability separately.
Addressing a common barrier to automation adoption
Dan Armbrust, founder and CEO of MūL Technologies, framed the pricing change as a response to a common complaint among smaller manufacturers: that automation systems often force buyers into capabilities they will never use. "Manufacturers shouldn't have to invest in automation capabilities they'll never use," Armbrust said, adding that the company's aim is to make autonomous material transport "practical and affordable for any facility."
According to MūL Technologies, MARC carts operate without requiring Wi-Fi connectivity or structural changes to a facility, and a single cart can be assigned to multiple tasks rather than one fixed route. The company cites one manufacturing deployment in which a single cart logged more than 16,000 trips over an 18-month period, though this figure comes from the company and has not been independently verified.
What this means for facility operators
For small and mid-sized manufacturing or warehousing operations, modular pricing can lower the upfront cost of entry into robotic material transport, a category that has traditionally required larger capital investment and custom infrastructure. Facilities considering the technology should weigh the base model's limitations - such as the cap of 10 programmable locations - against their operational needs before deciding whether a custom or all-in configuration is more cost-effective over time.
MūL Technologies, headquartered at 10202 N Enterprise Dr. in Mequon, Wisconsin, designs and manufactures the MARC line for use in manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics settings. Additional details on the pricing tiers are available through the company's website.
